The campaign site of Troy LaPlante for Selma, NC Town Council
I spotted this while doing some errands and making a coffee run in Downtown Selma. Yet another improvement in appearance for the town.
See and hear for yourself the stances I have on different topics that have some local business owners endorsing my candidacy for Town Council. https://youtube.com/channel/UCIIkF6XDafcxAeIzxl75ZZA
My boys helped me drop off some campaign yard signs today. If you want one for your yard, just let me know. troy@vote4troy.com is one quick and easy way of getting in touch with me. Don’t disappoint these two faces on November 2nd!
We will eventually have to see stories like this about Selma if we are going to keep pace with growth and maintain our existing infrastructure.
Here is an often used quote by the philosopher, Plato. “The price of apathy towards public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.” I have seen evil men (and women) serve in government at all levels. Yes, this includes here in our little town of Selma.
According to Stan Burman, “This is an awesome quote by Plato that is as true today as it was when he was alive. Societies in which there is great apathy towards public affairs are almost invariably ruled by evil people at worst, and by incompetent people at best. The United States is one good example. The level of apathy is astounding despite the all the fiery political rhetoric. The result is that the best of the current politicians are simply incompetent and the worst are thoroughly evil and rotten to the core.”
There are men (and women) who seek to change that. I am one of them.
Sadly, this cartoon spoof is often true. I have heard many politicians make a lot of promises. The good news about small towns and Selma, in particular, is that there are only four Council members and one mayor involved, so it makes it easier to get your agenda out there. As with all representative governments, it takes cooperation in order to get the votes. That can be either a good thing or a bad thing. The good news is that bad ideas can be fought strongly as much as good ideas can be supported.
